It's a Girl Card

Monday, July 30, 2012
This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is Oh Baby!  What a great opportunity to create something special (i.e., a card or gift) to welcome a new little one into this world.  There are a number of stamps at My Craft Spot that are just perfect for baby projects - and even two entire sets (Bundle of Joy and New Arrival) that are dedicated to babies.

For my project, I decided to make a card.  This card was not made for anybody in particular so I'll tuck it away to have on hand if I hear of the birth of a little girl.

For the white mat on my card, I used my score board to create some lines.  On this, I layered a frame cut from Ashlyn's Alphabet.  I embossed both layers with different heart folders.  The sweet little bassinet is from New Arrival and I also embossed part of this with my Cuttlebug.

I cut my tag using the Tiny Tags metal die set from My Craft Spot.  I think I'm addicted to these little tags!!  The sentiment is from the new My Craft Spot Bundle of Joy stamp set.  I also added some Cotton Candy Divine baker's twine - also from My Craft Spot - and some sweet little buttons to finish things off.

The inside of my card was stamped with a sentiment from Sweet Sentiments - Set #2

There are some precious projects created by other members of the design team so do head over to My Craft Spot to check them out!  Then create your own Oh Baby! project and link up for your chance to win this week's fabulous prize!

Cute Little Christmas Card

Thursday, July 26, 2012
Hello Friends!  Today is my day to share a project at My Craft Spot!  As this  week's challenge at My Craft Spot is Christmas in July, I thought I'd give you a bit more inspiration as you get a head start on your Christmas projects!

I have to say that I got my inspiration from Karen at Little Scrap Pieces.  She's on a bit of a Hello Kitty kick right now and her projects are so adorable! Be sure to check them out!  It's great to see the different cuts she has been using and find some inspiration.  I've had my Hello Kitty cartridge for a couple of years now and have only used it a handful of times so decided it was time to play with it again.

I used Hello Kitty Greetings to cut the little image and attached it with an Action Wobble.  The card sentiment and little tree stamp on the tag are both from My Craft Spot's 'Tis the Season stamp set.  The little tags were cut using My Craft Spot's new Tiny Tags Metal Dies.  I just LOVE these dies!  Although they are made to coordinate with the Tiny Tags stamp sets, you can use them with other stamps or cuts as well - just like I did!  I used some fun Holly Berry baker's twine to attach the layered tag to my card.  I also did some faux stitching around the card and rounded the bottom corners as well.

There is still time to play in this week's Christmas in July challenge.  Click HERE for details!  I'm also going to enter this card at Little Scrap Pieces where Karen has a Christmas in July challenge going on as well.

50th Anniversary Card

Monday, July 23, 2012

I'm home!  Thank you for all your wonderful comments left during my absence.  I'm having fun going through them.  With the My Craft Spot stamp release two weeks ago, I've got lots of catching up to do!!

Me at the top of Mount Pilatus, Switzerland
Our anniversary holiday was wonderful.  We were quite disappointed with the Globus tour though.  (Avoid this company!!  I've done other tours and there is no comparison.)  It was ridiculously disorganized and the information about the trip was incredibly misleading to say the least.  For example, our "featured" trips to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Madeleine (and a number of other advertised sites) were nothing more than a drive-by... We weren't even permitted to get out of the bus for photos - let alone visit the attractions!!  However, we were determined to make the most of the situation and did our best to keep a "glass half full" attitude.  Toward the end of the trip, we ended up just venturing off on our own and were able to see many wonderful sites this way.  We met some lovely new friends along the way too.  As a result, we were able to return home with some amazing stories and photos.  For me, the highlight was going to the top of Mount Pilatus in Switzerland.  I never dreamed I would be at the top of the Alps!!

This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is "Wedding Bliss" - make a project for a special couple (i.e., wedding, anniversary, etc.).  Just before we left for our holiday, the parents of my best girlfriend celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  It was such a joy to celebrate with them and I am so thankful for having such amazing people in my life who set such a wonderful example of how to maintain a loving, healthy marriage. I made my card for them.

To create my card, I used Ashlyn's Alphabet for the frame and Gypsy Font for the "50".  The heart image is from Love Struck and I simply punched the extra silver hearts.  I used my Cuttlebug on the card base and frames as well.  The navy border was created using an EK Success punch and I added some thick navy ribbon.

The inside of the card was stamped with a sentiment from My Craft Spot's Happily Ever After set.  I thought it was just perfect for a 50th wedding anniversary celebration!!

With wedding season upon us, be sure to head over to Fantabulous Cricut to see the rest of the design team projects for inspiration!

~*~*~*WINNER*~*~*~
Thank you so much for all who left comments for me during the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Blog Hop.  The random winner of the With Deepest Sympathy stamp set is Kathy Salido of 3 Spoiled Dogs and a Cricut.  Congratulations Kathy!!  Please send me your information via email: smallbitsofpaper @ hotmail.com [remove spaces].  Congratulations!!

Graduation Card

Wednesday, July 18, 2012
Hello from Rhineland, Germany!  I am so delighted that it's my day to share a project at My Craft Spot today!  This is the project that I am sharing there:

My daughter recently graduated from high school and I made this card for my husband and I to give her to let her know how very proud we are of her.  Although Erin's school colours are green and gold, Erin wore hot pink to prom and so I decided to go with that colour instead.  It's more bright and celebratory!

Way to go Graduate! ~ Congrats ~ UR Fabulous

The graduate was cut from Paper Dolls Teen Scene at 6 inches.  I then used a Stampin' Up punch for the borders at the top and bottom of the card.  I cut the little tags and shadows for my banner using the new Tiny Tags dies and stamped them using sentiments from both Tiny Tags and Tiny Tags 2.  I just LOVE these little stamps and dies!!  I used some fun Pink Sorbet baker's twine to string my banner - and tied some little bows for each tag too.  I finished things off with some bling, using some large gems to create some sparkle on my card.

And here's a photo of Erin and Kyle just before heading off to prom:

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party Blog Hop

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Salve from Rome, Italy! My husband and I are heading to Venice later today as we continue our travels through Europe.

Welcome to the My Craft Spot stamp release party blog hop!! Today, we reveal the FULL line of new stamp sets and... metal dies!!  Kimberly is releasing the dies to correspond with her Tiny Tags sentiments - including Tiny Tags 2 which is part of this release!!  The incredibly talented Robin from Robin's Creative Cottage helped design the new Tiny Tags and dies - and they're amazing!!  I'm blown away by each of the new sets and I'm sure you are too!  Keep reading and you'll see each set below.

For my project today, I made a card using stamps from the new With Deepest Sympathy set.  In fact, by leaving a comment below, you will be entered to win this set!!

To create my card, I used a 1-inch square punch to create "windows" in kraft cardstock.  I ran the cardstock through my Cuttlebug.  The red border is cut from a Martha Stewart punch.  The little flowers are stamped and punched with supplies from Stampin' Up, with Liquid Pearls added to each.  The little butterfly is a punch and it was also run through the Cuttlebug.  I also punched some corners with an EK Success punch.

The gorgeous sentiments are from My Craft Spot's new With Deepest Sympathy set.  I am so delighted with this set.  I've been looking for years for something like this - and now Kimberly has put something together that is far, far better than anything I have ever come across.

Here's the list of the entire blog hop.  Remember, you can win one of the new My Craft Spot stamp sets at each and every stop along the way!!  If you are hopping in order, your next stop is a visit to see the incredibly sweet and marvellously creative Amber at My 3 E Scrapbooking.
*Remember to leave a comment below for your chance to win the With Deepest Sympathy set.  The rest of the design team will be announcing winners on July 16 but as I am still on holiday, I will announce the winner from my blog on July 23.

*The new stamp sets will be available for purchase on my blog starting Saturday during the blog hop.  You may post pictures of the stamp sets on your blog on Saturday.

Here are the new stamp sets!
All sets are available for purchase starting TODAY!

This set was designed by our very own Robin!

Robin also designed a set of metal dies to go with both the Tiny Tags 1 and the new Tiny Tags 2 stamp sets!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Five

Friday, July 13, 2012

Ciao from Rome, Italy!  My husband and I are halfway through our European holiday - and today we will visit the Vatican.  All posts this week have been pre-scheduled.

It's Day Five of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!  Hasn't Kimberly done an amazing job with all her new sets?!  Today's set is such a sweet one!

I recently found Twinkle Toes at our local Walmart for only $10.  I couldn't believe it!  When I brought it home, my daughter looked at the cartridge and then at me, saying, "It is a good deal, Mum, but when will you ever use this?"  Of course, I had to show her that I would indeed use the cartridge and created this darling little bear with Twinkle Toes! The sweet little face is a Peachy Keen stamp.  I also embossed the ears and tummy with my Cuttlebug.  I added some stickles to the bear's bow and slippers - and created a little tulle skirt for her too!

The frame behind the bear is from Elegant Edges.  I embossed the top layer with my Cuttlebug.  The bear is popped for a bit of added dimension.

The little banner is also from Twinkle Toes.  I used one of the new My Craft Spot stamps for the sentiment, curling it slightly on my stamp block in order to fit the shape of the little banner.  I LOVE polymer stamps for that!!  The little heart buttons are from the same eBay seller that I mentioned yesterday.  The tiny buttons are perfect for a baby card!

The inside of my card was stamped with one of the new My Craft Spot sentiments as well.  The little border was created using a Stampin' Up border punch.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has created and to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize... the Tiny Tags stamp set!!  And remember to come back for the My Craft Spot blog hop tomorrow - with a chance to win one of the NEW stamp sets at each stop along the way!!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Four

Thursday, July 12, 2012
Hello from Florence, Italy!  I am so excited to be seeing Michelangelo's David today.
Welcome to Day Four of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!  I made this card using stamps from another new release.  Haven't the stamps been fabulous?!  This set is such a sweet one and I am sure you'll fall in love with it when you see the full reveal on Saturday.

The cut I used is from Campin' Critters and I added some eyes using a Peachy Keen stamp.  The star border is from a Martha Stewart punch and the little star buttons are from an Aussie seller than I found on eBay.  I popped the moon and added a new My Craft Spot sentiment along the border.

For the inside the card, I used the same Martha Stewart border punch and another sentiment from the today's new My Craft Spot stamp set.  I LOVE this stamp.  Isn't it thrilling to think of angels dancing with joy at the birth of a little one?!

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see some more wonderful projects made by the rest of the design team!  Don't forget that Kimberly is giving away a fabulous prize each day!  Today, you have the chance to win some of her gorgeous crinkle ribbon!  And there are only two more days until the My Craft Spot stamp release party blog hop - with a prize at each stop along the way!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Three

Wednesday, July 11, 2012
Hello from Como, Italy!  My husband and I are still working our way around Europe so all of my posts are pre-scheduled this week.  It's our 20th wedding anniversary today!!  I'm so blessed to be loved by such an amazingly wonderful man and I thank God for our happy, love-filled marriage.

It's Day Three of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!  I have to say that today's set is something for which I have been looking for AGES!  I am so very thankful that Kimberly is releasing this set - and she's done such a lovely, lovely job with it!  This set is something I requested, so I feel especially touched that Kimberly has put it together.  You'll see its full beauty revealed on Saturday!

The back of this card is 4.25 x 5.5 and the front is 4.25 x 4.25 - plus a bit extra with the blue border, punched with a Stampin' Up punch.  The sentiment mats are from a Spellbinders Nestabilities set and the flowers are a combination of cuts from Flower Shoppe and some punches.

I added a bow behind the flowers, using Vanilla Bean crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot.  In the centre of each flower, I added a drop of Liquid Pearls.

The inside of the card was stamped with another sentiment from today's elegant new release.  The little swirl is from My Craft Spot's Happily Ever After set (which was released earlier this year).

It's hard to believe that we are halfway through this fun week - but there is still more to come!  Be sure to head to My Craft Spot to see all the other gorgeous projects created by the rest of the design team - and to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize, the Birthday Wishes stamp set.  And don't forget about Saturday's My Craft Spot blog hop - where EACH design team member will be giving away a stamp set (courtesy of Kimberly)!!

I'll see you tomorrow with a peek at another new stamp set!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Two

Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Hello from Lucerne, Switzerland!  My husband and I are continuing our 20th anniversary holiday and all posts are pre-scheduled this week.

It's Day Two of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!!  Today's set is another must have.  You'll understand when you see all the sentiments in Saturday's reveal.

I made these cards for my youngest son's teachers.  For the past few months, I've been so busy with work and finishing my M.Ed. that I haven't had much time to play with my new toys!  I finally used Wild Card 2 for this fun apple.  As soon as I saw the apple cut, I knew I had to buy this cartridge to make my son's end-of-year cards.  I attached each of the apples with an Action Wobble - something else I've had for ages but have never used.  I just had too much fun watching the apples dance around on the cards!!

The sentiments are from today's My Craft Spot release.  I love the all-caps on this particular sentiment.  It suits the card perfectly!  I finished things off with some Cherry Red baker's twine - from My Craft Spot.

Head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has made with today's new release.  And don't forget to leave a comment for Kimberly for today's prize - some gorgeous crinkle ribbon!  Remember that we're having a My Craft Spot blog hop on Saturday - and EACH design team member will be giving away one of the new releases (courtesy of Kimberly)!!

Come back tomorrow for another peek at a new stamp set!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day One

Monday, July 9, 2012
Hello from Paris, France!  My husband and I are on a European tour so my posts are all pre-scheduled this week.

Welcome to Day One of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!  I am so excited about this week - and especially about today's release.  Not only is Kimberly releasing some fabulous stamp sets this week, but she is also releasing a set of AMAZING dies to go with her Tiny Tags sentiments!!  I've had such fun creating little tags with the dies and stamps!

As those of you who have been following me for a while know, I like to make a card for my son's crossing guard at Christmas and end-of-year.  This year was no exception.  I used Go Canada for the sweet little beaver and Going Places and George and Basic Shapes for the stop sign.  I also used Going Places for the card base.

The little flowers are cut from a Martha Stewart punch and I also used an EK Success punch for the grass.  The white mat was embossed with a Crafts-Too folder.

The little sentiment is from today's new stamp release - and it's been cut out with one of the new co-ordinating dies!!  The little red shadow is also from one of the new tag dies!  I added a little red eyelet to the tag and then used some Cherry Red baker's twine from My Craft Spot to finish things off with a bow.

*As this post is pre-scheduled, I am not sure which colours of baker's twine Kimberly is giving away.  This is just a sample of some of her fabulous product.

Head on over to My Craft Spot where there are LOTS of great projects showcasing today's release.  The full reveal will be made on Saturday - and all the new releases will be available for purchase then!  How exciting!!  And don't forget to leave a comment for Kimberly at My Craft Spot.  Each day, she'll be giving away fabulous prizes - and today, you have a chance to win some of her fabulous baker's twine!  And on Saturday, EACH of the design team members will be giving away one of the new releases - thanks to Kimberly!  Woo hoo!

Have a wonderful day - and I'll see you tomorrow for Day Two of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!

Ice Cream Card

Hello from Paris, France!  My husband and I are on holiday to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary!  We'll be spending the next couple of weeks touring around Europe so all my posts will be pre-scheduled.  I'm afraid that I will not be able to comment on things while I am away - but will look forward to visits upon my return later this month.  I'm off until September and my M.Ed. is finished so I'm very excited about a break from the busyness that has been my life for the past few years!!  It seems surreal!

This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is "Yummy! Yummy!"  We are challenging you to make a project with any type of summer dessert (ice cream, popsicle, fruit etc.).  I chose to make a card using the ice cream cut from Fast Food.  The "pistachio" ice cream was embossed with my Swiss Dots folder and I added a bit of doodling too.  The base is from Elegant Edges - but I trimmed the bottom in order for the card to stand upright.  I did a bit of embossing and added Crackle Accents to the dish.  I also added Glossy Accents to the cherry.  I punched a border and then stamped a sentiment from My Craft Spot's Inside & Out Set #2.

Please head to Fantabulous Cricut to see what the rest of the design team has come up with!!

Also, remember that the My Craft Spot stamp release party begins today!  All week long, I'll be showcasing projects with the new stamp sets and on Saturday, the entire design team is taking part in a blog hop - with a NEW release stamp set to be given away at each stop along the way!!

Canada Day Card

Monday, July 2, 2012

Click HERE for the Canada Day Blog Hop.

What an exciting week in North America!  Yesterday, we celebrated our country's 145th birthday with Canada Day and Tuesday will be the 4th of July - the day our American neighbours celebrate their country.  At My Craft Spot, we are celebrating both holidays with our challenge this week:  Create a project for Canada Day or the 4th of July.

I made this card using Go Canada for the maple leaf (with a rectangle from George and Basic Shapes for the stem). The side panels were cut with my paper cutter.  I did lots of inking and distressed the edges of my paper.  I had planned to stitch around the edges of the card, but my layers must have been too thick as I completely jammed the machine and broke the needle...  Oh dear!

To create my sentiment, I combined portions of two stamps from My Craft Spot's Winter Wonderland stamp set.  I also added some little maple leaves cut from Martha Stewart punches.  I finished everything off with some maple leaf (how perfect is that?!) crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot and some little rosebuds from Wild Orchid Crafts

Now for some other exciting news...  I have been a rather non-existent blogger as of late as I've been working diligently on my thesis.  Two weeks ago, I submitted the initial draft and, last night, I submitted my revisions.  Woo hoo!!!  I'm pretty much dancing today!!  (And yes, after our Canada Day festivities, I came home to finish work on my thesis!!)  This week, I will be attending a course out-of-town Tuesday through Thursday and then my husband and I leave for a much needed holiday on Friday.  As such, my blogging will likely be limited to design team commitments.  I do feel horrible to be missing so much of your wonderful projects but I really did need to dedicate my time to my paper and have been trying desperately hard to spend precious moments with my family in there too.  I have been up many a night past midnight, trying to "do it all".  Plus, I've been making my projects for next week's My Craft Spot stamp release.  Make sure you come back for that!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team projects at My Craft Spot... and definitely take part in the stamp release next week.  There will be prizes EVERY day!!  I LOVE the new sets... plus, there's a little something extra that is being released.  You won't want to miss it!!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

I'm so excited that Tara (from Homemade Happiness) and Heather (from Princess Paper Projects) have asked me to join a group of talented Canadian crafters to help celebrate Canada Day with a fabulous blog hop!!

We have some great Canadian sponsors lined up for prizes and winning is going to be so much fun! All you need to do is hop along with us, leave all the participants some lovely comments, and pick up one "clue word" from each blog along the way. Once you have all the words then you will have a special question to answer. Leave your answer in the comments on Heather's blog and "ta da!", you are entered to win one of our great prizes! Best of all, you will have a blast looking at all the fun Canadian crafts along the way!

My project to share is quick and fun!!  My daughter and I painted our nails red and then used some Cricut vinyl to add little maple leaves to our big toenails and thumbnails.  We covered the polish and vinyl with an overcoat as well to make sure the vinyl wouldn't peel off.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the little maple leaves - but you could use your Cricut to cut them as well.  (Thanks to Jen Larsen from Craft-O-Maniac for sharing this idea.  As soon as I read the tip, I knew I wanted to do this for Canada Day!)

As I had to get ready for this ahead of time in order to have my post ready, I've been out and about with my Canadian nails and have had a few comments about them!  They seem to be a hit!

My Clue Word: ON

Remember to send Heather at Princess Paper Projects the mystery sentence to be eligible for one of the great prizes:
*Your Next Stamp ~ Jenny from Canada rubber stamp
