Falling Leaves

Click HERE for this week's Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog post.

This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is Falling Leaves.  We are challenging you to create a project with at least one fall leaf on it.

I used the new My Craft Spot Stampin' Around Fall stamp set to create the circular leaf border around my window frame.  I first cut paper to size and then used the Creative Memories cutting system to cut the circle out of the middle.  I used the Inkadinkado Stamping Gear set to line up the little orange leaves as I stamped my way around.  (Do the varied thickness of stamps, be sure to keep the cover of the stamping gear set in order to create a tool that can adjust for all your stamping needs.  I felt a bit like MacGyver as I had to get creative with plastic, pop dots and cellotape - but I did it!!)

The little squirrel is from Create a Critter.  The face is stamped with a Peachy Keen stamp.  I also added some orange faux stitching around the card frame.

The sentiment is also stamped with the new My Craft Spot Stampin' Around Fall stamp set and I used the new My Craft Spot Tiny Doilies metal dies for the scalloped circle and sentiment ring.  These doilies are so easy to work with - and so pretty too!  Mine is popped on my card.  I finished things off with a few more leaves from a Martha Stewart punch.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team members have made for this week's challenge... and then link up your own Falling Leaves project for your chance to win this week's fabulous prize!

Zva Creative Birthday Card

First of all, thank you so much for your kind words concerning my son and his go kart injuries.  He is doing much better.  In fact, he was discharged from nursing care on Saturday!!  His gashes have dried and closed over so there is no more need for regular dressing changes.  Woo hoo!!  He is still sporting a cast though, and we have our first trip to the physiotherapist on Tuesday evening.  Thanks to all of you who have said prayers.  We are so thankful that our son's recovery is going so well.

Anyway, on to business!  This week at Fantabulous Cricut, we are celebrating birthdays.  Some of the design team members were lucky enough to receive some fabulous product from this week's amazing sponsor, Zva Creative.  I'm one of those members!  I used some gorgeous Zva Creative gems to create a birthday card for my niece.

I used Elegant Edges to create the circles mat behind the Zva Creative gems.  These gems were so easy to work with as the design is all attached.  It was a simple matter of peel and stick!!  The doily and sentiment are from My Craft Spot, as are crinkle ribbon and twine. I finished things off with a little gem from my stash.  This card really was simple to put together.  I let the Zva Creative gems do all the work!!

Head over to Fantabulous Cricut for your chance to win a fun prize from Zva Creative.  And why not check out the shop at Zva Creative too?!

Oops!!  I messed up!  I realized after creating AND posting my card that I was to have included a candle somewhere on my project...  I am so sorry!  Please note that this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is to create a "Happy Birthday" project WITH a candle.

Feel Better Soon

Monday, September 10, 2012

This week's challenge at FCCB is Planes, Trains and Automobiles.  We are challenging you to create a project with some sort of transportation on it.  I actually did not think that I would have a project for this week as we had a rather traumatic start to the school year... but the theme fit my need for a card so to the craft room I went!

On Wednesday evening, my middle guy was at a youth event which included some go karting.  When it was my son's turn, he was given some pointers on how to operate the go kart, including the instruction to turn off the ignition if necessary as the brakes didn't always work.  (I'm beyond baffled that this activity was even permitted and that none of the adults there realized how reckless it was...)  Anyway, long story short, the brakes did not work.  My son was unable to turn off the ignition in time and was unable to turn so ended up ramming into a truck.  He now has a fractured ankle and some pretty nasty gashes down his leg.  No fun at all!  I made this card for him.  (The character on the card is smiling as my son has remained his happy self through all this.  In fact, he is handling things much better than I am!!)

I used the golf cart on Car Decals and George and Basic Shapes to create the go kart, cutting the top part off by hand.  The little guy is also from Car Decals and the crutches are from Everyday Paper Dolls.  I hand cut the little cast.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags set and the frames around the sentiment were cut using the NEW My Craft Spot Tiny Doilies metal dies and punches.  The crooked frame is also from George and Basic Shapes.

You have a week to enter this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut.  Check out the rest of the design team's creations - and then link up your own project!

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Blog Hop!!

Saturday, September 8, 2012
Great news!!  The My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release stamp sets and metal dies are available for purchase TODAY!!  Plus, today you get the full reveal to see all the wonderful sentiments and shapes - as well as a full look at the fabulous new die set!!  You'll see pictures of everything at the bottom of this post.

Kimberly has very generously offered EACH design team member an item from new release to give away during this hop.  I'll be giving away the Best Witches to You stamp set.  It's got lots of fun sentiments!  All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and be a follower of my blog.  Winners will be announced this Monday so you have until Sunday night to enter.

I decided to make a treat bag for the hop.  The bag is cut from Wrap It Up and the spider web is from Paper Doll Dress Up.  I used my Gypsy to hide the outermost contour of the web in order to have the web design on the bag (and not cut right out altogether).

I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the border at the bottom of the bag.  The rosette was cut from the same punch.  (I got this idea from my design team sister, GiGi.  Click HERE for a link to her post.)  Over the rosette, I layered three different cuts from the NEW My Craft Spot Tiny Doilies metal dies.  The white layer is stamped with a little spider from the NEW My Craft Spot Stampin' Around Fall set.  I hand cut the little tag and stamped it with a sentiment from the NEW My Craft Spot Ghostly Greetings set.  I then finished everything off with a bit of Halloween baker's twine... from My Craft Spot!

You can check out all the new sets below - and then hop on over to visit the incredibly creative Amber at My 3 E Scrapbooking.  When you are done the hop, remember that you can go to My Craft Spot to order the new sets today!!

Here are the new stamp sets!
Aren't they fabulous?!

This set was designed by our very own Robin!

Robin also designed a set of metal dies to go with the Stampin' Around Fall Stamp Set!

My Craft Spot - Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 5

Friday, September 7, 2012

Welcome to Day 5 of this year’s My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!!  Today, we are showcasing projects made with the NEW Happy Thanksgiving set.

I used Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons as the inspiration for my card.  I took the circular tree, kept the trunk and switched out the circles for some Doodlecharms hearts.  Using My Gypsy, I also created a shadow for the tree.

I rounded the corners of my card base using a Creative Memories corner rounder.  I used My Mind’s Eye for the pattern papers and did lots of inking.  The little hearts at the base of the tree were punched with a little heart punch I picked up at Michaels years ago.

I finished off my card with one of the NEW My Craft Spot Happy Thanksgiving sentiments.  It’s perfect for a fall-themed love card!

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party Blog Hop!  Each design team member – and Kimberly – will be showcasing projects made with the NEW release projects and there will be prizes at EACH stop along the way.  So fun!!

My Craft Spot - Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 4

Thursday, September 6, 2012
Welcome to Day #4 of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!!  Today, we are showcasing stamps from the NEW Ghostly Greetings set.  This set contains some wonderfully fun Halloween sentiments for your crafting pleasure!

I used the new Create a Critter 2 cartridge (at least some of last week's Cricut Craft Room freebies!) to create my penny slider card.  The ghost moves across the top right side of the card!!

I embossed the house with a Tim Holtz folder and "stitched" around the edges.  After cutting things out, I decided that the door area was too bright so I took the little door piece, embossed it, added a little gem and stuck it on!

I also did some inking around things and gave my ghost a Peachy Keen eye and some rosy cheeks.  The haunted fence was created with a Martha Stewart punch.  I used a bit of a dryer sheet for the spooky cloud over the moon - and stamped a NEW Ghostly Greetings "Boooo!" on the moon as well.  The Halloween twine is from My Craft Spot.

The inside sentiment is also from Ghostly Greetings - and the little ghosts are from Monday's Stampin' Around Fall set.  I completed my card with another Martha Stewart spooky fence.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see what Kimberly and the rest of the design team have created.  The projects are amazing!!  And, while you are at My Craft Spot, don't forget to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's wonderful prize!!

My Craft Spot - Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 3

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

It's Day 3 of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!  Haven't the projects been fabulous?  I'm always so amazed with the creativity and talents of Kimberly and the rest of the design team.

Today, we are showcasing sentiments from the NEW Best Witches to You.  I LOVE this set!!  So does my sister.  In fact, she was visiting when the new stamps arrived in the post and took a real liking to today's set - and especially the sentiment, "If you've got it, haunt it."  As she was talking, I knew I wanted to make a card for her with that sentiment.

Rachel is a model.  She used to model full-time and travelled all over the world doing shows and photo shoots.  She has since gone back to school is now employed as a certified speech language pathologist.  However, she still does a fair bit of modelling in her free time.  I based my card on Rachel and a shoot she was part of a few years ago.  That explains why my bride of Frankenstein has red hair!!  Here's one of the photos from that shoot:

My baby sister

I used A Frightful Affair for the bride of Frankenstein and Happy Hauntings for the sentiment frame.  I embossed the hair with a Victorian Lace Cuttlebug folder and spritzed it with some Stampin' Up Smooch Spray.  I covered the dress with Glossy Accents and then heated it to make it bubble a bit.

The sentiment frame was covered with Crackle Accents.  I then stamped a sentiment with a stamp from the NEW My Craft Spot Best Witches to You set.  I also added a little bat from Monday's Stampin' Around Fall set and some little stars from last year's My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release set, Candy Corn Kisses.  I spritzed this with some Stampin' Up Smooch Spray too.

The spiderweb papers are from K&Company. I finished things off with some Black Diamond crinkle ribbon and black baker's twine - both from My Craft Spot - and a little purple button.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see what Kimberly and the rest of the design team have created.  The projects are amazing!!  And, while you are at My Craft Spot, don't forget to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's wonderful prize!!

My Craft Spot - Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 2

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Welcome to another day of sneak peeks from the NEW My Craft Spot fall release party!! Today, we are showcasing projects made with the Spooky Treats stamp set.  All stamps and metal dies will be available for purchase THIS Saturday!

I used A Frightful Affair to cut the witch and cauldron image.  I added Crackle Accents to the boots and cauldron and then used a bit of a used Bounce sheet for the smoke coming out of the cauldron.

Before I adhered the witch and cauldron to my card base, I added a spider web border (punched with a Martha Stewart punch) layered with some Deep Purple crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot

The "Double double" sentiment from the NEW My Craft Spot Spooky Treats stamp set was stamped several times and each line was then cut out using a Stampin' Up window punch.  I added some more "smoke" over the sentiment for a sinister effect.  I finished things off with two little bats cut from Wrap It Up.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot for more sneak peeks of the new Spooky Treats stamp set.  Plus, while you are there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's awesome prize!!

We are all back to school today.  I've been at work for a couple of weeks now, but students arrive back today.  For all of you heading back to school - or supporting children who are headed back to school - have a wonderful day and a fabulous year!!

My Craft Spot - Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 1

Monday, September 3, 2012

Welcome to Day One of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!!  Get ready for a week full of fun with all the new products coming out this week.  Every day, there will be projects posted using Kimberly's new stamps and metal dies - and we'll finish things off with a blog hop on Saturday!!  There will be prizes offered at My Craft Spot each day, and on Saturday, EACH design team member will be giving away one of the new releases (courtesy of Kimberly).

I used a few of the new stamps from today's set to create my fall card.  The "patterned paper" is handmade with little stamped leaves from the set - and I used the same maple leaf in the middle of the card centrepiece.    In fact, with the exception of the 3/4 inch circle in the middle, the entire centrepiece was made with the new metal die set and today's stamp set!!  I popped the centrepiece and the middle circle for a bit of added dimension.

The tree on my card was cut using Stretch Your Imagination.  I stamped the tree with a woodgrain stamp (Market Street Stamps) and then ran it through my Cuttlebug with the woodgrain folder.

I finished things off with some wonderful Marmalade crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot.

If you haven't checked out today's stamp set release sneak peeks at My Craft Spot, why not head over there now... and be sure to enter on Kimberly's blog for your chance to win today's prize!

Come back tomorrow to see my project made with the second My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release set!!
